The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year! The CBSO is spreading the festive cheer this December with a fantastic line up of concerts…

The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra kicks off the celebrations on 1 December with a fabulous, floor-filling symphonic tribute to the iconic music of ABBA, featuring the Orchestra, toe-tapping rhythm section and top-notch vocalists.

On 6 and 7 December you really shall go to the ball, when the magical musical tale of Cinderella – as told by none other than the brilliant composer Sergei Prokofiev – takes centre stage at Symphony Hall.

For the glittering centrepiece to this year’s Christmas celebrations, the CBSO and its family of choruses welcome Strictly Come Dancing 2016 champion Ore Oduba as our host. Ore joins Chorus Director Simon Halsey CBE for A Choral Christmas on 19-22 December – three concerts overflowing with seasonal music old and new, traditional carols, and our very warmest Christmas wishes.

If the silver screen is more your style, join the Orchestra and guest singers for Christmas at the Movies on 22 December, featuring dazzling songs and scores from Home Alone, White Christmas, The Snowman, Miracle on 34th Street and more.

The celebrations don’t end with Christmas, either. On 6 January we pop the cork on a concert full of fizzy musical gems – waltzes, polkas, and more from the kings of Viennese light music, to bring in the New Year.
